Journey Behind

Since 1992, Chen Chung has upheld traditional business values, relying on word of mouth and an affiliate agent system. To address seasonal revenue spikes during Chinese New Year, we repositioned their Bakkwa (Chinese salty-sweet dried meat jerky) as a year-round snack, revamped its design, launched trial packs and a lucky draw campaign, and redesigned gift sets with trendy packaging. These strategies doubled their sales to RM200k compared to the previous year.

Due to Bakkwa's status as a seasonal Chinese New Year delicacy, Chen Chung's revenue traditionally spikes only during that season, leading to lower earnings in non-seasonal months.

Strategy

We repositioned Chen Chung's Bakkwa as a year-round snack, revamped its design to appeal to a younger audience, and conducted a product relaunch alongside new outlet openings.

  • Redesigned their Chinese New Year gift sets with trendy packaging and utilised short video content from popular dramas, supported by a RM10k advertising budget.
